“It’s a well-known fact that fitness is an essential part of a young person’s health. Petway encourages young people to take part in the event. Even though the target audience is youth, other siblings or family members may want to join in as well,” the 4-H agent said. “It can also be safely performed in the comfort of the home. This activity will also incorporate ‘MixxedFit’, a fitness program combining explosive dance movements with bodyweight toning,” Petway said. “The purpose of the Zumba Dance activity is to provide a fun virtual activity for youth before many of them return to school. Chutney Guyton, a licensed Zumba and MixxedFit instructor, will conduct both sessions. ![]() ![]() Phillip Petway, FVSU 4-H Twiggs County Extension agent, will host each session. This include healthy aerobic activity, building and toning muscle and developing heart health. It uses several music genres, including jazz, hip-hop and modern pop hits, to promote physical fitness. Zumba Dance fitness classes are based on Latin dance moves. The sessions are free for registered participants. ![]() Students from kindergarten to 12th-grade are invited to free virtual Zumba classes sponsored by Fort Valley State University’s 4-H Program on August 25 and 27.Ĥ-H “Get Turnt Up” Virtual Zumba Dance Fitness, is scheduled for two sessions starting at 6:30 p.m.
